Man dies after jumping in front of A train in Manhattan
A 54-year-old man died Wednesday after leaping in front of a subway train in Greenwich Village, officials said.
The unidentified victim jumped to the tracks as the Inwood-bound A train roared into the 14th St. station at Eighth Ave. around 11:15 a.m., officials said.
The train ran over the man, shearing off his legs, police said.
First responders rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he died a few hours later. His name was not immediately released.
Afterward, A trains were rerouted on the F line.
